Here for You Every Step of the Way

We know that choosing to have surgery is a big decision with a lot of details to sort through. That’s why we make every effort to guide and support you, from your initial consultation to your ongoing recovery. We want you to be able to focus on what matters most: healing.

When you schedule your procedure with us, our team will go over the surgery timeline with you in depth, making sure all your questions are answered so you can feel comfortable and confident well in advance of surgery day. And as you recover, we’ll be there, making sure you’re healing well.

Surgery Timeline

  • Four to six weeks before surgery: Schedule your surgery. You’ll be given a pre-op scheduling form and a patient guidebook for hip or for knee that will help guide you before and after your procedure.
  • Select a coach: Encourage family participation by selecting a “coach” from friends or family. Your coach will attend the pre-op class and visit throughout your stay and attend group classes.
  • Three to four weeks before surgery: Attend a pre-operative class taught by the Joint Care Coordinator in your surgeon’s office.
  • Two to three weeks before surgery: Obtain surgery clearance from your primary care physician or specialist, if requested by your surgeon.
  • 10 to 14 days before surgery: Complete the pre-testing process.
  • Day of surgery: Our specially trained staff will help you get back on your feet the same day.
  • One to two days after surgery: Therapy will cater to your specific needs to help you recover. Group therapy and activities can help ease you back into movement.
  • Discharge home: After you’re cleared to leave, you can be taken home by a friend or family member.
  • Two to four weeks after surgery: Continue physical therapy in the outpatient or home health setting.
